It’s the height of the Depression back in the thirties and this down<\/p>\n
and out fellow is sitting on a curb in Kansas City. The wind is up\u00a0 and<\/p>\n
comes a sheet of newspaper tumbling down the street. Turns out it’s<\/p>\n
the classified section of The New York Times but he reads it anyway.<\/p>\n
In it he sees this add, “Lost, shaggy dog, if found please return<\/p>\n
to no. 10 Belvedere Place,\u00a0Mayfair, London. Handsome reward”.<\/p>\n
Moments later he looks up and lo and behold, here comes a shaggy dog<\/p>\n
wandering down the street.\u00a0He jumps up, collars the dog, hails<\/p>\n
a taxi\u00a0and goes to the railroad station. There he takes a train to NYC. with<\/p>\n
the dog in tow. When he gets to NYC., he takes a taxi to the docks and<\/p>\n
boards a liner bound for Southhampton, England. Upon arrival, he<\/p>\n
takes the boat-train\u00a0up to London, hails a taxi and gives the driver<\/p>\n
the address in Mayfair. When he gets to the house he grabs the dog,<\/p>\n
runs up the steps and rings the bell. A rather elegant lady opens<\/p>\n
the door and excitedly he says, “lady, I’ve found your dog lady,<\/p>\n
this is your dog lady, right?”<\/p>\n
She glances at the dog, turns to him and exclaims,<\/p>\n
“good heavens no!, it wasn’t that shaggy”.<\/p>\n
