\nOne, a woman, gives a riveting account of the other’s
\nuntoward behavior towards her.
\nThe other, a man, vexed beyond endurance, displays his
\nIndignation with a capital I.
\nSo much for the actors on stage, but what about the actors
\nin the background?
\nMay I resort to analogy? Consider the two actors on stage
\nas trees and consider the twenty-one actors in the background
\nas the forest. Could it be that we cannot see the forest
\nfor the trees?
\nThe forest yes, look, do you see them in it?, three dinosaurs
\nthat were there twenty-eight years ago.
\nAnd in their company are soon- to- be dinosaurs who’ve only
\nbeen in office a decade or two, senators for life as it were.
\nAnd there, in the forest, hangs the tale of why Washington
\nis so fucked up. For there you have these worn-out hacks
\nwithout an original thought if they ever had one, intent on
\nonly one thing, protecting their fiefdoms and saying to
\nthe rest of us, “fuck you Jack, I’m allright!”.
