If a Martian landed on our shores at this time of year and watched television to get a feel for us, what would he witness?
\nFor one thing he’d never fathom that Christmas meant the birth
\nof Christ, or that holidays meant Holy days.
\nHe would see St. Nicholas portrayed as a bearded fat man wearing
\na funny red hat and clothing trimmed with white, uttering moronic
\nho-ho’s. He would see hordes of people run amok and damn near
\ntrampling each other in stores, in a frenzy of spending.
\nSo much for TV. If he walked the cold streets he would see people
\nbegging for alms, and sleeping on cardboard while others passed
\nwith no care, no concern.
\nAll this in the richest country on earth, which calls itself
\n“one nation under God”.
\nI wonder what God thinks about that?
