Recently I was sitting in the back of the house listening to Saint-Saens
\nwith my eyes closed when a thought occurred to me. Earlier I had heard
\non Telly that some counties in Colorado wanted to separate and the
\nreasons seemed clear to me. That is to say, how city folk see it and
\nhow country, for lack of a better word, folk see it, and by it I mean
\nthe world. I might be considered “country folk” in that what came to me was this thought, ” if I were looking out back as it was say two
\nhundred years ago would I necessarily recognize it?” and my answer was
\nyes. You might say country folk admire more what man has not done as
\nopposed to how city folk see it and I mean see it as they look out
\ntheir back door. Fucking brick walls and people up the kazoo. Wonderful!
\nGetting back to Saint-Saens, there was this construction of perfection
\nin my mind as it ended but on top of that I opened my eyes to
\nperfection upon perfection. A young Wild Almond twenty feet away,
\ntwenty years old, its parent beyond it. Royal Poinciana to the North,
\nTamarind, Mahogany, Gumbo Limbo and more Poinciana to the South.
\nYes, easy to see what “country folk” observe and indeed feel about
\ntheir surroundings.
\nIn a more serious vein though, I say “thank God” for the cities.
