A few years back I made the acquaintance of a carpenter, no, not that carpenter, indeed I came to know his wife and
\nchildren a wee bit.
\nOne day in conversation he made this remark, “women, you can’t
\nlive with them and you can’t shoot them”, which caught my
\nfancy as I had never heard it expressed that way before.
\nHis wife, a lovely woman, was kind of like an Earth Mother,
\nI thought.
\nThere is a difference, no doubt, not in their capabilities,
\nfar from it, they can man the helm, man a winch, hoist a
\nsail and sheet it home as well as any man.
\nNo, it’s not that, it’s their uncanny ability to stick it
\nup a man’s nose that brings me back to the carpenter.
