Wrote this a few years ago when I first contemplated<\/p>\n
creating a blog.<\/p>\n
“Once in awhile my wife and I have the following<\/p>\n
argument, she contends that Americans are gun<\/p>\n
happy and I offer rebuttal.<\/p>\n
She is\u00a0a Brit, so you can see where she’s coming<\/p>\n
from, I, as an American, like to toss in the fact<\/p>\n
that the Colonists experience with England<\/p>\n
started the whole idea of gun-up.<\/p>\n
Yesterday on telly\u00a0 we heard that Americans<\/p>\n
are buying more guns than ever.<\/p>\n
That got her going of course, nothing new<\/p>\n
there but it sparked this thought in me.<\/p>\n
The success of the Colonists\u00a0 in large measure<\/p>\n
was the fact that as a population they were<\/p>\n
well armed, not only with weapons but more<\/p>\n
important with resolve.<\/p>\n
Is it possible that many Americans sense<\/p>\n
a second revolution? When you think about<\/p>\n
it, this Democracy is only about two hundred<\/p>\n
and thirty-eight years old or something like that.<\/p>\n
Americans have the guns\u00a0 no doubt, question is<\/p>\n
do they have the resolve? Not yet I think.<\/p>\n
I suggest they read Tom Paine as they<\/p>\n
mull things over.”<\/p>\n
