she said,<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To come and spoil the fun!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The sea was wet as wet could be,<\/p>\n<p>The sands were dry as dry.<\/p>\n<p>You could not see a cloud, because<\/p>\n<p>No cloud was in the sky:<\/p>\n<p>No birds were flying overhead&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>There were no birds to fly.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Walrus and the Carpenter<\/p>\n<p>Were walking close at hand;<\/p>\n<p>They wept like anything to see<\/p>\n<p>Such quantities of sand:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If this were only cleared away,&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>They said, &#8220;it would be grand!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If seven maids with seven mops<\/p>\n<p>Swept it for half a year.<\/p>\n<p>Do you suppose,&#8221; the Walrus said,<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That they could get it clear?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I doubt it,&#8221; said the Carpenter,<\/p>\n<p>And shed a bitter tear.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;O Oysters come and walk with us&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Walrus did beseech.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A pleasant walk, a pleasant talk,<\/p>\n<p>Along the briny beach:<\/p>\n<p>We cannot do with more than four,<\/p>\n<p>To give a hand to each.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The eldest Oyster looked at him,<\/p>\n<p>But never a word he said:<\/p>\n<p>The eldest Oyster winked his eye,<\/p>\n<p>And shook his heavy head&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Meaning to say he did not choose<\/p>\n<p>To leave the oyster-bed.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>But four young Oysters hurried up,<\/p>\n<p>All eager for the treat:<\/p>\n<p>Their coats were brushed, their faces washed,<\/p>\n<p>Their shoes were clean and neat&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>And that was odd, because, you know,<\/p>\n<p>They had&#8217;nt any feet.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Four other Oysters followed them,<\/p>\n<p>And yet another four;<\/p>\n<p>And thick and fast they came at last,<\/p>\n<p>And more, and more, and more&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>All hopping through the frothy waves,<\/p>\n<p>And scrambling to the shore.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Walrus and the Carpenter<\/p>\n<p>Walked on a mile or so,<\/p>\n<p>And then they rested on a rock<\/p>\n<p>Conveniently low:<\/p>\n<p>And all the little Oysters stood<\/p>\n<p>And waited in a row.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The time has come,&#8221; the Walrus said,<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To talk of many things:<\/p>\n<p>Of shoes&#8211; and ships== and sealing- wax&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Of cabbages&#8211; and kings&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>And why the sea is boiling hot&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>And whether pigs have wings.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But wait a bit,&#8221; the Oysters cried,<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Before we have our chat;<\/p>\n<p>For some of us are out of breath,<\/p>\n<p>And all of us are fat!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;No hurry!&#8221; said the Carpenter<\/p>\n<p>They thanked him much for that.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A loaf of bread,&#8221; the Walrus said,<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Is what we chiefly need:<\/p>\n<p>Pepper and vinegar besides<\/p>\n<p>are very good indeed&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>Now if you&#8217;re ready, Oysters dear,<\/p>\n<p>We can begin to feed.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But not on us!&#8221; the Oysters cried,<\/p>\n<p>Turning a little blue.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;After such kindness, that would be<\/p>\n<p>A dismal thing to do!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The night is fine,&#8221; the Walrus said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Do you admire the view?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was so\u00a0kind of you to come!<\/p>\n<p>And you are very nice!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Carpenter said nothing but<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Cut me another slice:<\/p>\n<p>I wish you were not quite so deaf&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve had to ask you twice!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It seems a shame,&#8221; the Walrus said,<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To play them such a trick,<\/p>\n<p>After we&#8217;ve brought them out so far,<\/p>\n<p>And made them trot so quick!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Carpenter said nothing but<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The butter&#8217;s spread too thick!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I weep for you,&#8221; the Walrus said:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I deeeply sympathize.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>With sobs and tears he sorted out<\/p>\n<p>Those of the largest size,<\/p>\n<p>Holding his pocket-handkerchief<\/p>\n<p>Before his streaming eyes.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;O Oysters,&#8221;
