It is one thing to receive a patent on a tool which<\/p>\n
a man can do with or without. It is quite another<\/p>\n
thing to receive a patent on a life-saving drug<\/p>\n
which one cannot do without.<\/p>\n
Yet pharmaceutical companies are routinely<\/p>\n
given exclusive domain including pricing over<\/p>\n
such drugs. Their argument that costly research<\/p>\n
on their part warrants such treatment does not<\/p>\n
ring true, as quite often they simply buy out<\/p>\n
some independent endeavor.<\/p>\n
Even if in the rare case where there is considerable<\/p>\n
expense on their part in bringing a drug to market,<\/p>\n
how do they justify outrageous\u00a0profit against the horrendous<\/p>\n
pain, suffering and often death of people who<\/p>\n
cannot afford their product.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Islander<\/p>\n
