Have you ever crowded, ninety strong, aboard
\na thirty foot, questionable, sailboat and
\nembarked on a seavoyage upon the Atlantic Ocean,
\nalso known as “The Widowmaker”, from Haiti to
\nthe mainland of America, a distance of
\napproximately seven hundred miles?
\nStanding room only for days and nights on end,
\nmen, women, and children, unwilling to discharge
\ntheir collective feces overboard, knowing full
\nwell that sharks would follow them if they did,
\nand also knowing that these creaky boats
\ncould easily founder, and many have.
\nMy guess is that you have not, nor have I,
\nbut who can deny the human spirit?,
\nwho would deny these people their quest
\nfor a better life?
