A Thought

There is a saying, “the office makes the man”.

Let us for a moment  think that might be the case.

Would then that not beg the question, does it make

him for the better or for the worse?

I suggest it quite often  makes him for the worse,

and I include the current holder although I voted

for him twice. Hello?, you might ask, but shit,

a lot of you did also.

But he is not the “great White hope” I thought he

might be, nor is he the “great Black, Brown or Yellow hope”.

Could it be that men, when given the power to represent

others, lose their moral compass, that is if they ever had one?

That could be it “in a nutshell”, for as Lord Acton once said,

“power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely,

great men are almost always bad men.”

Islander.

P.S. I wrote the above a few years ago when I first began

contemplating a blog and then as the saying goes,

“it gathered dust”. I’m dusting it off for I find

I have not changed the thought one wit.
