Donne once wrote “no man is an island”, in fact I posted it. But Donne lived in an age, in a country where either the king or the church could have your head for verboten language. And he knew it, surely he was aware of Socrates’ fate. In a way, like Plato before him, “The Republic” is a good example, he wrote in a manner that requires you to read between the lines to get his drift. I personally think every man is an island.
