Once they were known not as “Americans”, but as British subjects.

Their first substantial wars were with the French in the West, and by

the way the Indians who sided with the French. And in defence of the

Indians they were right, as they knew the French would come and go,

quite the opposite with their neighbors to the East. Not to leave out

the Spanish to the South.

All these conflicts, except for Arnold’s venture up to

Quebec as I recall, occurred on what was to become

the United States of America.

I could go on but why bother, surely you know

where I would go with this.
