Shame

consciousness of guilt or of anything degrading, unworthy or immodest.

2. Susceptibility to such feelings. 3. One who or that which brings reproach

or disgrace. 4. A state of regret, dishonor or disgrace.”

Webster’s def. [abbreviated].” The painful feeling arising from the conscious-

ness of something dishonorable, ridiculous, or the like done by oneself or

another, or of being in a situation offensive to decency, self respect or pride.”

Would that I could say none of us needs a dictionary to understand the

meaning of shame, however current events show that is clearly not the case.
