Have you ever entered a room where perhaps three or four people were
engaged in conversation which momentarily stopped or altered or lost
its rhythm? I’m sure you have. I compare it to planets in orbit where
the addition of another body disturbs their state of being. But getting
back to people, if you’ve picked up on the subject of their conversation
as you entered their presence, more than likely you’ll contribute to it
to the extent that you can, but however smoothly, or so you might think,
your engagement may have been, things are never quite the same.
