Genetic engineering

Or you might say welcome to Dr. Frankenstein’s laboratory.
Men, greedy men at that, are seeking to modify mankinds food supply.
Where are the major “God is so great” religions of the world, after
all God created everything we eat did he not?, how dare man tinker
with God’s creation! I guess they have other fish to fry, on Fridays
that is.
Mankind has spent millennia discovering natures edibles. In doing so
it is possible they genetically modified themselves to the point
that they can consume now what once would have killed them. As you
know, the tomato was once considered poisonous and perhaps it was.
Proof of this posit is all around us, for there are creatures out
there that do consume things that would surely kill us. Obviously
they have adapted.
But to get back to my main point, it has taken thousands of years
to ascertain what will benefit us and what will do us harm, and so
it has been down through the ages, live and learn, if you live.
Now, out of these Transylvanian laboratories comes the promise of
something new, a new way to produce food, a boone to humanity;
but somehow I just can’t get it out of my mind that out of similar
laboratories, staffed by similar zealots, came the wonder drug
Thalidomide.
